Bourbon County Middle School was built in 1948 and originally housed the high school. Eventually a new high school was built and the middle school students were placed in the current building. The building itself contains the original auditorium, a gym with bleachers on both sides, a large library, and computer lab. Behind the building there is an annex which houses related arts classes and other classrooms and offices. Bourbon Middle School has approximately 610 students and 70 staff members.

Bourbon Middle School is comprised of grades 6-8. Each grade level has two teams.

  6th Grade- Moondogs, Riverdogs

  7th Grade- Apollo, Magellan

  8th Grade- Explorers, Navigators

Each team consists of a math, science, social studies, language arts and exceptional children teacher.

The Related Arts make up a team of their own and that team consists of art, family living, health, physical education, technology, choir, and band.
